Remember when concealers came in 4 shades and that was normal? Yeah, times were weird! But the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer was and is one of the most loved concealers of all time! I remember when I worked in Superdrug, there was a sign on the Collection stand that said something like one was sold in the UK every 5 seconds, or something equally mental!
And while the formula of this concealer (at its price point) was second to none, its shade range was shit. Excuse my French. It started with 3-4 shades a few years back, when Zoella was all the rage. And then I remember about 2 years ago they ‘extended’ the shade range…. to include 2 more shades. The whole thing was a bit of a shambles.
But I still bought it. Because of £4.19, you really couldn’t get better.
Flash forward a few years, and they’ve just relaunched. The same iconic concealer, with a bit of a makeover… and 20 shades! I have to say, the shade range still isn’t what I think concealers should be these days, but it’s definitely an improvement. So I will give them that.
My old shade was 0 Extra Fair, and I have2 Porcelain (which is a little too light, but works nicely for under the eyes). I would recommend Googling for your old shade next to the newer ones, because I’ve been reading a lot online about people saying that Collection’s ‘this is what your shade is in relation to the old shade range’ feature is wildly innacurate.
The formula is pretty much identical; a high coverage, long wearing concealer that looks beautiful, blends easily, but has the capacity to be a little cakey if you apply too much. Overall, a really good concealer. And while I’ve found some since that I prefer, this is still a cracking concealer.
The other thing that’s changed between the old and new, is it’s had a real makeover! Gone is the skinny, slightly cheap looking packaging where the writing rubs off, and in is the sleek, slightly more luxe looking packaging. The other thing that’s changed, that I’m completely here for, is that the doe foot applicator is MUCH bigger. Which means you’re dipping far less frequently!
Basically, this concealer is fab. I honestly don’t feel the formula has changed that much, but I’m totally for the new packaging! The shade range is certainly better, but still feel like it could be stronger.
Have you tried this yet? If so, what was your thought?
