February 21 Empties | Skincare, Haircare & Makeup | Would I Repurchase?

For some reason January lasted forever, but it felt like I blinked and February was over. But somehow I still managed to finish a lot of products, especially some of those really big bottles I’ve been using for months (I see you Body Shop shower gel). But here I am with another monthly empties, where I talk you through all my beauty trash (yes I know I’m British and should say rubbish, but trash just sounds better)! So I’ll give you quick reviews of all the things I used up over the month of February.

Enjoy!

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I feel like this is in every single empty, but it’s just my go to micellar water. I always use it as my first step before going in with a second cleanse, and I’m sure it’ll be in my empties for many more years. Not only is it super cheap, but it also just works. It removes makeup with minimal effort without irritating my eyes at all. And I’m such a fan of the bigger bottle size. One thing I do want to get is reusable cotton rounds, but that’s another point.

100% repurchase

Clarins Extra Comfort Anti Pollution Cleansing Cream

This was the face wash that never ended, like it almost became a bit of a meme in our house. I started using this daily back in November, and I’ve been using it pretty much daily in the evening ever since. It’s a really nice soft and gentle cleanser that doesn’t leave your skin feeling tight or dry. I wouldn’t say it’s the strongest cleanser out there and so doesn’t do a very good job at removing makeup, but as a second cleanse it’s so nice! I’m not entirely sure you can get this exact cleanser anymore, but I’d love to try more from Clarins!

Product discontinued, but would try something else from the range.

Rodial Dragon’s Blood Cleansing Water

I mean the bottle of this is so darn annoying! It has this pump top that you’re meant to sit the cotton round flat to, pump once and it has the perfect amount of product for one use. BUT it just didn’t work! I found myself fighting with it always so actually decanted mine into a travel bottle. But even putting this aside, while it removed makeup pretty well it stung! Like my eyes really hurt…. so I would 100% not repurchase.

Wouldn’t repurchase

Glam Glow Youthmud Treatment

I was only able to get two uses out of this, as it is a sample. However, from the small experience I had, I would probably pick up a full size product and give it a proper go. But how cute is the mini!

Probably repurchase

The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser

I really enjoyed this moisturiser! I would probably say it’s currently my favourite and while I’m currently working my way through other products in my collection, I’d definitely go back to this! It’s a super lightweight moisturiser that felt refreshing and moisturising, without feeling heavy or too greasy.

100% repurchase, though would also get the night cream next time for something a little heavier at night.

Dr Dennis Gross Stress Rescue Super Serum

So for something that’s £75, you expect it to change you skin and have some miraculous change… but realistically I found my skin really didn’t look that much different with or without it. While it was nice and I really enjoyed applying it, I really don’t think I think it’s worth it!

Wouldn’t repurchase

Allies of Skin Vitamin C Brighten-Firm Serum

If you follow me on social you’ll know I had the most horrendous reaction to this. And while the brand were nothing but informative and helpful with feedback and suggestions, I just couldn’t justify spending £120 on their matching cleanser or moisturiser to make the one serum work, when I have other Vitamin C serums that work with my skin. So I think I’ll have to pass on this, and it’s not actually an empty, but I’m just unable to continue using it.

Wouldn’t repurchase

Hawaiian Tropic Fragrance Mist in Island Coconut and Raspberry Sorbet

So as the only person who currently gets close enough to actually smell me is Alex, I really don’t want to use up my super expensive and lovely fragrances. So I’ve really been using my. Hawaiian Tropic Fragrance mist for about 6 months now and have only just finished it. It’s actually a really nice fragrance (and as someone who doesn’t like Coconut scent, I find it’s really not that coconutty and more tropical), and tbf for a lighter easy to use fragrance I would probably repurchase these! It’s sometimes nice to have something that’s not a full on perfume!

Would repurchase.

Jimmy Choo Flash

I’ve had this in my collection for AGES! It used to sit on my desk at work so I had something to apply prior to a press night after a full day in the office (wow how life is so different). I really don’t think this is my favourite fragrance and I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t repurchase, but it was a nice fragrance… if you get me.

Wouldn’t repurchase.

Oral B 3D White Luxe Toothpaste

I mean it’s toothpaste. I just buy whatever it on offer. Let’s just leave that there.

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer Therapies

I don’t know why, but I’ve never really got on with Philip Kingsley. Every time I use it on my hair, I really don’t see that much of a difference, so for the price… not sure I think it’s worth it.

Wouldn’t repurchase

Max Factor Brow Shaper x 2

This is my GO TO brow pencil, I pretty much use this daily and have for years. While I tend to go through it quite quickly, it’s just a really easy to use brow pencil that’s a pretty good colour match for my hair and would buy over and over again and already have!

100% would repurchase.

Imperial Leather Moroccan Sunset Bath Soak

This smells delicious and it just works. I go through it super fast, but also would rebuy over and over!

100% would repurchase.

The Body Shop Satsuma Shower Gel

This has been in my shower since before I moved, so I’ve been using it solidly for like 4-5 months…. but it is a humungous bottle and you really don’t need that much. But the Body Shop shower gels are my go to and I already have another ‘normal’ size bottle as well as one of these HUGE bottles.

100% would repurchase.

Sure Invisible Aqua Anti-Perspirant

It’s a deodorant, I buy whatever’s on offer. Let’s move on.

The Body Shop Moringa Body Butter

I love the Body Shop body butters (and I’m actually not as much of a fan of their body yogurts), and so I would continue buying these forever. However, I wasn’t such a fan of this scent. I’m not a massive floral person, and so I’m not sure what I expected, but I love their fruit scents!

Wouldn’t get this scent, but would 100% repurchase the body butters.

And there you have it another empties post to finish another month! I know there’s products that appear month after month after month, and so I’m hoping to keep up with these all year and then do a yearly round up of my most used vs most loved vs least loves products! And I’m already way too excited for that one!

What products have you used up this month?

  1. I love the vitamin products here – gonna look into that 🙂 I also love body butters, my favourite at the moment is the Christmas vanilla one xx

  2. wow! you got through so many products this month. I used up the last of my Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser and so obviously needed to put in a new Glossier order because I’m coming to the end of some of the other products too. I also reached the end of my LUSH shampoo bar that I’ve had on the go since October so I really need to rectify that situation soon!

  3. Love this post! Thank you for sharing! I have also repurchased loads of garnier micellar cleansing water because it is so good! I love body shop shower gels and I’m currently using the warm vanilla shower gel and it’s great!

  4. Wow you’ve gotten through a lot this month, I love the look of the body shop vitamin c moisturiser- I love the body shop. I liked the sound of the Clarins face wash so it’s annoying you can’t buy it, but I’m going to have a look and see if there is any similar products.

  5. It’s interesting that the majority of the repurchases are from the high street – meaning that money doesn’t necessarily mean the best value. Body Shop body butters are fab, especially for winter-dry skin! x

  6. I love the empties posts!! I really love Garnier micellar water, it’s my go to without even a thought! I love the moringa body balm too from The body shop. The only things i managed to finish was the milk jelly from Glossier and a shampoo bar that I couldn’t wait to get rid of! Thank you for sharing x

  7. What a good post to read. I haven’t actually seen one like this before I don’t think, where people actually go through empties and discuss what they would and would not repurchase. But it’s super helpful to get honest views on how other people feel about products. (Isn’t the Body Shop stuff amazing though? Their vitamin C range I’ve always found so nice).
    Thanks for sharing this 🙂

  8. Love this! I love vitamin C serums but I’m doing a retinol-a treatment right now so I’ve stopped for a bit. Micellar water is my fav product too! Nothing takes my makeup off easier than micellar water. Thanks so much for sharing xx

  9. Super interesting post. As a skincare lover I also always go back to my favorite brands as soon as my products run out (my mother ship for skincare are both The Ordinary and Kiehls). I also used to love Micelar water and I would always repurchase it, but now my double cleanse consists of an oil cleanser followed by a soap and I find my skin has never looked better. I still have Micelar water, but I like to keep it for ”emergency” next to my bed whenever I have a lazy day that I don’t feel like washing my face.

    1. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m yet to try The Ordinary or Kiehls! There’s a few brands I want to try out this year, so I may do an order when I’ve worked through my advent calendar backlog! x

      1. Girl, you’ll go crazy with TO! It’s life -changing! I can’t believe how cheap and effective it is. I refuse nowadays to pay bank for brands only because of marketing (except Kiehls. – I still love Kiehls haha)

    1. It’s really lovely and actually fairly reasonable (I think it’s like £16 or something), so it’ll definitely come back into my collection when I’ve used up some of my advent calendar backlog) x

  10. I really love posts like these!! Mainly because I like to nose at what others are using 😂😂 but I’ve been thinking about starting one myself xx

  11. Great post – I love the sound of some of these products! I also use the Garnier Micellar Water – it’s so good at removing makeup.

  12. I have that same Phillip Kingsley elasticizer in the orange scent. Also didn’t notice a difference, good to know I’m not the only one, because a lot of people enjoy it, I almost though I was doing something wrong. Thanks for sharing!

  13. I have to admit I have never used Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water before but I see so many good reviews about it I feel I really should buy it. Also Hawaiian Tropic Fragrance Mist sounds lovely I will need to pick up some of that too.

    1. I think they do smaller bottles for like £1-2 if you wanna try it! and I need a new body mist for those days I want a little something but not a full on perfume!

  14. The Vitamin C moisturiser from The Body Shop sounds really nice 🙂 I’m also a big fan of the Moringa range/scent but I do quite like a floral scent haha x

  15. I like reading posts like this 1. Because I am nosey but 2. Because I like to find recommendations on what products there are on the market. I have been experimenting with skincare products so it is great to hear about other products! Thank you for sharing Katie.

  16. What great empties! The Garnier Micellar water is definitely a holy grail for me when it comes to cleansing waters, although I’m now more of a cleansing oil gal! 🙂 I love that you’ve covered such a wide variety of products as well! X

  17. I love micellar water too, but I haven’t tried that particular one. I will have to give it a go! I love how honest you are with your empties posts. I stick to the same stuff usually, and don’t use it as much as I should. It takes months to go through stuff! I finally finished my Clinique foundation that I bought a year ago due to hardly wearing makeup during the pandemic, lol. That would be my only empty for the month, I believe. 🙂

  18. That’s good to know about the serum. They can get so expensive and I never really feel like I’m happy with the results
