Review | Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Mousse

Usually you get a free gift with purchase and, safe to say, it’s a little naff. However, I got this as a free gift with purchase in Boots and (spoiler alert) kinda love it! Annoyingly this particular shade has been discontinued, but the line/formula is 100% still around, so thought I’d share with you my thoughts so you can go and grab your favourite shade before they go!

And, as I realise I haven’t actually told you what it is, it’s the Revlon Hyper Matte Ultra HD Lip Mousse in Canicule.

Price & Packaging

At £8.99 it puts it pretty much smack bang in the middle of drugstore lipstick prices. The packaging is this pretty, soft, pebble edged packaging. I love how you can see the colour through it so you know exactly what you’re getting out. The doe foot applicator is…. difficult to work with. In fact, it’s kind of the thing I hate most about the entire ordeal! It’s got this concave/dip in the middle of it which makes it kinda difficult to work with.

Colours

There’s only like 6 shades in the matte formula (I think there’s a lot more in the other formulas of this range), and they’re all nudes or reds.

Formula

I mean first thing to say is that is smells delicious. Like you open the bottle and you can smell it from a mile away! I had it on for 12 hours (which I don’t often for a lipstick to be fair) and it hadn’t budged an inch. I was beyond impressed. It hasn’t smudged or bled or done that weird thing where lipsticks cling to the outside of your lips. Plus the colour payoff is impressive.

Overall Impressions

The applicator is the only thing that lets this product down… and it’s such a shame, because if it wasn’t for that this would probably be my favourite lipstick of the moment. However, it just makes it really hard to apply neatly. But putting that aside, the staying power of this lipstick is just so stunning…
