12 Months of Makeup Empties | Would I Repurchase?

Hi. It’s been a while.

Honestly? 2021 was a year for me filled with so many highs (I have so much to tell you) and the biggest lows! I feel like I had to put my head down and just make it through the year. But I’ve missed you and I’ve missed writing and I can’t wait to get back into blogging!

How have you been? What’s been going on? I would love to hear from all of you!

I’ve been debating for a while how to suddenly come back after nearly 6 months of not posting, and I feel like there’s no post type that screams me more than an empties post… so I’ve got a WHOLE year of makeup empties. So 12 months of every single makeup item I’ve used up…

Mac Studio Fix Fluid Foundation

This is one of those foundations that I can rely on to work… wouldn’t say it’s a favourite, but it’s certainly a good’un and I recently picked up a second one.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara

Probably my favourite mascara (paired with the main lash sensational mascara) ever. It’s buildable, lengthening, volumising, long lasting… just easy.

Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot Powder

The packaging on this is what makes this powder! But it’s a classic and one that I will forever use as a powder on the go!

L’Oreal 24 Hour Concealer Pomade

One of the first concealers of the year I finished and one that has got me really wanting to try more pot concealers… love it! Good coverage, really creamy, long wearing. Would 100% repurchase!

NYX Honey Dew Me Up Primer

Love this primer. Has the nicest texture, beautiful dewy finish and looks stunning on the skin! The only thing I’m not a fan of is the applicator.. not sure I want to use a paddle to apply my primer… but there you go!

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer x2

Is there a more iconic concealer? High coverage, long lasting and now has a fairly good shade range. It can verge on cakey if you’re not careful, but it really is a firm favourite!

Smashbox Contour Palette

One of those products that have been in my collection for WAY too long. But a good’un nonetheless. I would say bronzers and contour palettes have come a long way since this product came out, but it’s still a strong contender that has a place in today’s makeup world! For me, the colour match in this palette is just perfect, and while I only ever used the ‘highlight’ as a setting powder, the contour and bronzer shades were perfection.

L’Oreal Lash Paradise Extatic Mascara

If you’re into volume and a lot of it, you will love this mascara. To be fair, I’d say it’s definitely one of my favourites, but I do find the brush a little hard to use.

Revlon Candid Setting Powder

I mean, it says it protects against pollution, but I’m not 100% sure how you’d know… however, I’d describe the powder as just fine.

Inika The Mascara

Another product that’s just fine

L’Oreal Infaillible More Than Concealer

My favourite concealer of all time. This has great coverage, it’s easy to blend and it looks amazing on the skin. Would 100% recommend!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara (mini)

I mean, if you like a thickening mascara then you’ll love this… however, I feel like the L’Oreal and Maybelline mascaras are better, so I wouldn’t repurchase

Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer

For a cheap concealer, this is actually a really good concealer. It’s slightly thinner than the Collection concealer, and so it’s easier to work with.

Refy Brow Gel

This is the best brow gel I’ve ever tried! It really can make your brow stay in place all day… and if you’re into the whole fluffy brow look this is your guy!

Laura Mercier Caviar Mascara

Honestly could not tell you anything about this mascara… clearly left next to no impression on me.

Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation

One of my favourite foundations, it’s buildable, easy to apply, long lasting and has such a beautiful finish. This shade really didn’t suit me, but if I could find my shade this would TRULY be the favourite!

Mac Lipsticks in Velvet Teddy & Ruby Woo

While Mac lipsticks are not the best lipsticks in the world, they really are just a classic! And there’s something about them that is just so nostalgic. Wouldn’t rush out and buy these shades again (because I feel like trying new shades) but would definitely buy more Mac lipsticks!

Elf 16hr Camo Concealer

I used to mix this concealer in with the Dior Backstage foundation, but it did have a really lovely finish.

Max Factor Brow Shaper x5

Who remembers when I used to finish one of these every month? I still think they’re my favourite brow product, I just moved on to see if I could fine a fine brow pencil that lasted longer… turns out, it’s not a thing!

GOSH Liquid Matte Lips in Berry Me

This liquid lipstick is a little sticky, and so I’m not sure I’d ever repurchase, but the colour was pretty!

L’Oreal True Match Nude Foundation

This has one of the nicest finishes of any of the foundations I’ve tried. It’s a slightly lower coverage foundation, but I really enjoyed it! the only downside is it’s a glass bottle with a pipet applicator, and so you can’t access the bottom 10% of product… which it kinda annoying!

Sleek Mattifying Primer

This was so… average

Tarte Lights Camera Lashes

Such a good everyday mascara. It has good definition and length without being volumising. My only complaint is it’s not buildable at all….

Benefit Gimme Brow

I mean it’s such a classic right?! It really helps to set your brows down while giving them a bit of extra colour and life.

Max Factor Face Finity All Day Flawless Foundation

Probably my favourite foundation (either this of the IT CC Cream / Nars Sheer Glow Foundation) and one that I’ve had multiple bottles of. It has good coverage, easy to blend, even easier to apply and super long lasting. Would 100% repurchase.

Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in East End Snob

Wouldn’t say this is something I’d ever recommend. They can be very drying, slightly clumpy and a little difficult to work with… but they are cheap, easy to get hold of and retractable.

Revlon Colorstay Powder

Perfect to apply over the top of spot concealing. Would repurchase.

Collection Primed and Ready BB Cream

This was always a little too heavy, while giving very little coverage of making very little difference. Would not repurchase.

IT Superhero Mascara

Another mascara I remember very little about.

Revolution Brow Gel

OMG this really did nothing. Do not recommend.

NYX Vivid Brights Eyeliner

Between mid May and August I basically live in colour liquid eyeliner and NYX really do make the best. once you get used to the brush tip applicator, they’re so easy to use and they come in the best shade ranges. I don’t think they have this range anymore, but they’re all pretty much the same.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder

Such a good classic setting powder. The packaging is s little naff. but the product is amazing… and really affordable!

Maybelline Brow Ultra Slim

Another version of the Max Factor brow pencil, I just don’t like it as much!

Elf Mineral Infused Face Primer

Another just average product.

So there you have it! Welcome back and look forward to making 2022 the best year yet!

Have you tried any of these products?

  1. Glad to see you back, and I’m glad to hear you had a good 2021! There are so many amazing products here. I love the Maybelline sky high mascara too, it’s so good. The Revolution conceal and define is my go to, it’s so good for price, can’t go wrong xx

  2. I’ve been meaning to try the GOSH Liquid Matte Lips in Berry Me, and good to know you wouldn’t repurchase it haha. Maybe I won’t try it.
