20 Favourites for 2020 | Skincare, Haircare & Makeup Favourites

And here we are. Another year is (pretty much) finished. And safe to say, 2020 was not the year we expected it to be. I’m not going to do a spiel on that now (as this blog post will be 100000 words long, but I’ll do a 2020 personal roundup on Instagram tomorrow), but instead I’m going to share with you my top 20 skincare, haircare and makeup items for 2020.

These are 20 things that, for one reason or another, I’ve been obsessed with! Either things I discovered in 2020, or continued to fall in love with in 2020. So enjoy…

Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette

If you’re surprised on the inclusion of this in my yearly roundup, then where have you been?! This palette has been a staple of mine for years and I have never looked back! I’ve hit pan on two shades in and and the rest of the palette looks particularly loved and used. The shades are a warm toned neutral girl’s dream, the formula is super easy to work with and the shades look gorgeous on the eyes. Just a classic.

MAC Matte in Velvet Teddy

Another old classic that’s been a favourite for many years, but I just couldn’t write a favourites video without it. This is such a great everyday lipstick shade on me… and while there are arguably better lipstick formulas out there, there is just something about this lipstick!

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish

There are new things in here I promise! And one of the first things I tried in 2020 and became instantly obsessed with is the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish! One of the biggest things I added into my routine in 2020 is a double cleanse. I still use my Garnier Micellar Water to take off my makeup… and then I follow up with a face wash like this! Despite the fact it’s £15ish… it actually lasts a really long time! Love it

Max Factor Brow Shaper

I LOVE this brow pencil! It’s super fine and easy to use brow pencil in a perfect colour match to my hair! My only downside on this is you go through it really fast!

Tarte Blushes

Another new discovery for 2020… how had I not tried these before! The packaging is super sweet and petite (making them ideal… for all that travelling we’ve done in 2020 – pah!), the formula is buttery and pigmented and they last a really long time! I just love them and I have two shades which I love!

L’Oreal Infallible Magic Essence Drops

I’m about 90% sure I discovered this in 2019, but putting that aside I still managed to finish two of these this year! Just love it. Feels really refreshing on the skin, but leaves me looking hydrated and healthy! Love it

Nip + Fab Glycolic Cleansing Pads

Something I’ve been using for about 5 years now, I don’t think I could ever see myself leaving these completely behind! While I sometimes swap them out, I find these really do wonders for skin texture!

RCMA No Color Powder

I can’t believe I actually finished one of these in 2020… yeah I know, I think I deserve some kind of reward! It’s just a really good everyday, actually translucent powder. And cost per use on this is beyond insane!

Tarte Lights, Camera Lashes Mascara

This was probably the biggest surprise for me ever. I got it as a free gift with purchase when I ordered my blushes from Tarte and I LOVE it! If you want a really beautiful everyday mascara that gives you long, dark lashes with 0 clump, this is your guy! Great for everyday!

Max Factor Creme Bronzer in Light Gold

This is my second one of these… and it’s been a favourite for a long old time! The bronzer is such a gorgeous, everyday, easy to apply and not so easy to over apply bronzer. The colour is gorgeous and I just love everything about it!

Monday’s Child Skin Perfecting Oil

Not only do they have the sweetest customer service of any brand I have ever spoken to, but their products (or product) are equally incredible. This has done wonders for my skin and has kept mascne at bay throughout the year. I’ve had two bottles already and I think it’ll always be in my cupboard. They’ve also hinted they’re launching more products in 2021… so watch this space!

John Freida Frizz Ease Hair Serum

You know that product you use everyday… and then you think it’s not doing anything so you don’t use it… and then your hair is just unruly and not soft, and just a nightmare. Yup, this is it. My everyday hair serum, this makes my hair so soft, silky and easy to straighten! Love it so so so so much!

L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara

Now while the Tarte mascara is great for everyday, this is AMAZING for those days you want your lashes to look full and long! Such a gorgeous voluminising mascara!

Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick

I love the entire line, but Cherries in the Snow is totally my favourite shade! The formula is super duper pigmented, but also long wearing and comfortable… and the shade range is so pretty! The packaging is also weirdly satisfying in its matte black tube…!

Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser

I discovered this in the summer and I have loved it ever since! It has such a lovely texture, where it’s hydrating and cooling on the face without being heavy at all! Plus it smells delectable!

IT CC Cream

Another one of those products that are you surprised it’s in my favourites? Yes? Where have you been? This has such impressive coverage without being remotely heavy! It’s beyond easy to apply and wears beautifully on the skin. Probably my favourite base of all time. I know they have a hydrating and matte range, but I like the original.

MAC Studio Fluid Foundation

And if I want a ‘proper’ foundation this is totally the one I chose! It’s a beautiful buildable foundation, and the colour match is just perfect! Not sure what else to say as this is such a cult classic!

HUDA Warm Brown Obsessions Palette

The smallest palette of this roundup, but without doubt the most used! Mainly as it was the eyeshadow palette I took to Alex’s while I quarantined with him for 4 months at the beginning of the year. But also, these are such gorgeous shades and the shimmer shade in the middle? WOW… just WOW

L’Oréal Paris Rouge Signature Matte Liquid Lipstick

While my favourite shades are 10000% I Am Worth It (Red) and I Speak Up (Pink) I’m obsessed with this formula! It’s one of the longest lasting lipsticks I know of and it’s made me really get into a bright lip option! Just love them so so much!

Morphe The Jaclyn Hill Eyeshadow Palette

While I don’t speak much about this palette on my blog anymore, it’s still a firm favourite in my everyday makeup routine! The colour selection is stunning, the eyeshadow formula is so pretty and it’s just a gorgeous palette!

And there you have it 20 favourite for 2020! Hope you enjoyed a little roundup of everything I’ve loved putting on my face (& hair) over the year! I know 2021 isn’t going to start like we expect, but fingers crossed we get at least part of a semi-normal year!

Keep safe!

    1. Really enjoyed this post so much! The bronzer in light gold is my favourite I think and I’m definitely getting it. Thank you for sharing this ❤️

  1. I have the Jaclyn Hill palette and absolutely love it as well! However, I am lacking in the mascara department. I’ll definitely check out the L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara you recommended !

  2. Such good favourites! I miss the texture and blendibility of the IT CC Cream but don’t need another base/foundation at the moment. The MAC foundation has become my go to for work and it’s such a consistent performer 🙂 The L’Oreal mascara is one of my faves too!

      1. I’d love to try a newer shade called Fair Ivory, it’s a touch lighter than Fair but I’m waiting to see if they bring it out in the mini size too otherwise I might give it a go when I finish a couple of other foundations 😊

  3. Happy New Year!! Oooh love the diverse range of makeup brands you’ve loved in 2020. I’ve been interested in Tarte for a while but haven’t gotten into it yet. You can never go wrong with cleansing pads that just works! Glad that the hair serum has been working well for you. I need to check this out. I keep hearing great things about the Morphy x Jaclyn Hill palette. Thanks for sharing all of your faves!

The magic essence drops also sound amazing; thank you for sharing.

  6. I would like to try that John Frieda Frizz Ease. I’ll take those Nip + Fab glycolic cleansing pads too. Nice list!

    1. Happy new year Katie! I’m afraid I’m a bit out of my element here, but wanted to check out your blog. But I feel like makeup always has the most epic names like… Infallible Magic Essence Drops. That sounds pretty magical!
