Nail Polish Collection | What Made The Cut?

How many of you were here when I used to have nearly 100 nail polishes? It was mental. And a lot of them went gloopy. It was ridiculous and surreal and a complete waste of product. So I have since kept my collection very considered and small (ish). Everything in my collection now has it’s place and I’ve recently really started getting back into painting my nails. So thought I’d share with you what made the cut and what I’ve still got around!

I would be lying if I said the formulas different massively from nail polish to nail polish (with the ones I have in my collection). Regardless of cheap or expensive, shimmery or glitter-less, everything chips on my nails in like 24 hours, everything applies perfectly in 2 coats and everything dries fairly quickly (if you keep coats thin). So the only thing I really feel differentiates the nail polishes in my collection in their shades. So here we go:

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in 321 Pink Pong | This is the classic manicure pink shade. You know, a nude based pink. Stunning, easy to wear, by go to

L’Oreal Nailpolish in Vert Absynthe | This is probably my favourite nail polish in my collection because it’s so unique. I love the foresty green and I love it even more with a matte topcoat!

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Acai Smoothie | Oh Barry M. My true love when it comes to nail polishes. A pink based purple, it’s a stunning everyday colour too!

Barry M Aquarium Collection in Mediterranean | I love this shade! Another slightly unique shade, this is a duochrome that runs pink in some lights and gold in others. Pretty ey!

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Chai I I used to wear this all the time with a coloured glitter from Essie. However, it dried up, and they’ve since discontinued it and I’ve found nothing like it since. However, this is still a favourite nail colour. I feel like a grey is never what people think of, but it’s stunning and I would highly recommend it!

Essie Expressie in Second Hand, First Love | I mean come on, Expressie sounds adorable! But this is another one of those everyday pink shades

Essie Bahama Mama | Part of the ‘core’ collection of Essie, this is a stunning purple wine colour and it’s a stunning statement nail. It suits my skintone and suits a lot of clothing in my wardrobe! Love it

Essie Under Wraps & Knotty or Nice | It’s no secret I am a Christmas lover! And that’s when I picked these up. Wouldn’t say they’re my most worn nail polishes of all time, but they’re pretty nonetheless. I love how they have a base colour as well as the glitter

Leighton Danny Star Dust | Literally never heard of this makeup brand, or tried anything else other than this product (received it in a beauty box), but this shade is stunning! It’s a clear based white hollographic glitter and it makes the most stunning top coat to any nail polish!

Rimmel Black Out | I feel like this is slightly left over from a mispent youth or something, but this is… well a black.

Ciate Mini in Raising The Barre | This, like Black Out, is one of the least worn nail polishes in my collection but it’s a stunning shade. And the little packaging is just adorable. Plus, it’s such a great colour for the Autumn.

And then as top coats go I have three. The simple and easy Barry M Basecoat, Topcoat & Nail Hardener, the summer shiny Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Top Coat, and probably my top favourite, the Barry M Matte Top Coat– which, as you would expect it, makes any nail polish matte.

So, as I’m sure you can see Essie and Barry M are my favourite brands of nail polishes. Their formulas are great and their colour range is second to none! Love em! but that’s basically it. I feel like it’s quite a reasonable collection for someone who loves a nail polish or two… or a hundred!

What’s your favourite nail polish? Or what do you think I’m missing?

  1. Personally I love a silver glitter, it goes with everything and always looks glam! I like Bahama Mama too, I really should wear that shade more. Rimmel’s Bestival Blue is another stunning shade and you can’t go wrong with a nude mauve/pink – I love Ladylike from Essie 🙂

  2. I’m glad it’s not just me that finds nail polish chips after a day or so! You’ve got some gorgeous colours in your collection! I tend to use gel polishes now because they last longer, but I still use the Barry M Gelly polishes for my toes – the colours are fab! Thanks for sharing 🙂 x

    1. I know, I read reviews of people online saying their nail polish lasts for 3 days + and I’m like ‘omg how, do you not use your hands…’! And thanks 🙂 x
