I know I’m super late on the bandwagon with this one, but I eventually picked up the NYX Total Control Drop Foundation because I’d seen practically everyone and their mother try this and I knew I needed to try it! Available in 24 shades, this foundation includes 13ml of product and costs £14.
The description online is such:
From sheer to full, your ideal coverage is just drops away with NYX Professional Makeup’s Total Control Drop Foundation!
Fine-tune this velvety, matte foundation with the included dropper. Simply adjust the number of drops until you create the look you’re feelin’ today. Want more coverage? Add more drops!
One thing this foundation is is buildable. It’s a super liquidy foundation that is applied through a dropper applicator. I find a small blob on each cheek, the chin and the forehead creates a really beautiful natural, light-medium coverage. And then the more blobs you add the higher the coverage it gets. The lighter the coverage the more natural it looks, as you add layers it does start to look a little more like foundation, but it’s also still really flawless.
The foundation blends like a dream with a beauty blender, but can be a little streaky (I find) with a brush and so a sponge is definitely my choice of applicator. It blends out really well to a satin-matte-natural (yes, a lot of words) finish.
The shade range is pretty good, I’m not actually the lightest shade (which is unusual). The shade I have is 05 Light and it matches me pretty much perfectly. The foundation wears well throughout the day. It does fade, but it doesn’t go overly patchy. It’s not the longest wearing foundation I own, but I can get a good 8 hours wear out of it. I’ve literally been wearing this foundation daily since I bought it as I really do love the finish and the buildability of it!
Have you tried this foundation? If so, what do you think?

I bought this foundation whilst on holiday at the very start of this year and I LOVED it, it made my skin look flawless and I was head over heels.
But when I came home from my holiday and tried to apply it I hated it, and I still can’t work out why. I wrote a blog post on it – https://laurenslife0.wordpress.com/2018/03/09/foundation-fortnight-nyx-total-control-drop-foundation/ – and I actually haven’t used it since…maybe it’s worth revisiting 🤔 x
OMG just read your review, so weird! Maybe your sunscreen worked as a really good primer…!
I really didn’t get on with this foundation it made me so sad 😭 I so wanted to love it 😩
Oh that’s so sad 🙁 guess that’s why there are so many foundations! Everyone’s skin is different!
I’ve been wanting to try this foundation but it’s so tiny and for the price it’s insane.

It’s lasted me pretty well thusfar, but I do get what you mean… kinda annoying!
Its such a great foundation- but I find my shade runs a bit too warm. I’ll also have to try it with a beauty blender, thanks for the recommendation x
Such a shame, I think they’ve expanded the shade range since launch? Might be worth heading into stores and giving them a swatch? 🙂 x
