New | Nip + Fab Gentle Glam Palette

Nip + Fab Palette 4

So Nip + Fab have launched another eyeshadow palette… actually they’ve launched another one, but more on that later. And any of you who know me knows that I am in love with their first two! They’re buildable, fairly pigmented, beautiful palettes full of lots of great mid-tone shades… yes, they always miss off the super deep and pale shades. They have launched a new palette – Gentle Glam – full of, I would guess, all the shades you need for a gentle glam look, all at the cost of Β£12.95 a pop.

The packaging for this palette is identical as the others, a clear lid without a mirror that I actually quite like. However, this is where the compliments stop….

The colour layout for this palette is just so… what were Nip + Fab thinking? It’s all very taupe and grey-purple, all very mid toned, and all very beige. It kind of feels like a paint sample palette for a super neutral house…

To be fair though, I could get through the colour selection if they packed some pigment… but no luck there. I’ve inserted a few swatched of the shades below… and believe it or not there are 7 shades swatched below…. one didn’t show up at all and four of them were so pale they might as well not have existed. These eyeshadows are chalky and so un-pigmented you end up building them up for ages to get absolutely no colour payoff and a weird chalky look on your lid.

I have to say, the shimmer shades do have a little pigment and are fairly pretty, but the mattes in this palette just really really let it down!

I feel like it’s such a shame because I do really like their other palettes. They’re not Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette, but they’re pretty and the colours are gorgeous. This palette, however, just leaves me so… wanting something, anything…

Have you tried this palette? If so, what are your thoughts?
