Self Care Sunday | What I Use In The Bath…

My new flat has a bath. And after not having on in my life for over 15 years, it’s an exciting and rather novel thing to me! So I now have a weekly bath (albeit it’s often on a Saturday), and I thought I’d share with you the products I’m currently working my way through while I lounge in the bath!

Bubble Bath

I’m not particularly a bath bomb person, but I love a bit of bubble bath! Typically I use something cheap and cheerful like Radox, but there’s something about bubbles in a bath… I’m just a child ok!

Remove Makeup

I usually have a bath in the evening, and so stage one is removing makeup. I’m currently using the Eve Lom Cleanser. I’m enjoying it, and it’s a really luxurious way to get your face feeling clean without that tight feeling. But it does have quite a strong scent, and it’s not very good at removing really stubborn makeup. Sometimes I use my Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser.

Hair Toner

I have bleached hair, and my hair runs rather warm. Which means I’m forever keeping on top of it to make sure it doesn’t go yellow. I used to use the Provoke Touch of Silver Toning Treatment Mask (which I still really enjoy as an FYI), but recently we all know I’ve become obsessed with the Function of Beauty shampoo. I leave it in my hair for around 5 mins to really leave my blonde looking fresh.

Cleansing or Purifying Mask

As I tend to double mask in the bath (yes, I’m that person), I love to start off with a more cleansing or purifying mask! Something like a clay mask or the Summer Fridays Overtime Mask. Apply it on my face, and let it sit while I soak (and usually watch a YouTube video or two, you really can’t go wrong!

Hair Mask

Love a good hair mask! I’m currently working my way through the Maui Moisture Hair Care Shea Butter Hair Mask. It’s a really thick and hydrating hair mask… I feel like it’s a little thick and heavy on my hair type (Maui is more geared towards women of colour, but I have had wonderful experience with their shampoo and conditioner and so thought I’d try their mask), so sometimes I just use the Function of Beauty conditioner as a hair mask.

Hydrating Face Mask

Remember that double face mask thing I was talking about? Yeah, I nearly always follow up my first face mask with a super hydrating face mask! Currently I’m working my way through and really enjoying the No.7 Beautiful Skin Hydrating Mask. You apply a thick layer, rub it in, leave it for 5 mins and wash it off. And it leaves your face feeling SO SO soft!

Post Bath Moisturiser

I’m dreadful at remembering to moisturise my body! And pretty much the only time I remember is post a bath. I mix up what I use every time (as I’m a little fickle) but it’s either a Body Shop Body Butter or something like my This Works Sleep Body Cocoon (which has the perfect pre-bedtime scent!)

Post Hair Wash Serum

We all know I’m OBSESSED with my John Freida Frizz Ease Serum. It helps my hair look and feel super soft, control frizz and helps my hair hold it’s style (especially straightened). I was never convinced by hair serums before, but now I’m 100% all over it!

And there you have it! I tend to shower in the morning (hence the lack of soap) and I shave in the shower. But, they’re all the products I use when I’m having a super relaxing bath time routine!

      1. You’ve mentioned some great products. I love having a relaxing bubble bath too. I love using Imperial Leather bubble baths. They do some amazing scents.

  1. I’ve never actually tried a hair mask but I’ve heard great things so maybe I’ll get one 🙂 My favourite kind of face mask is a sheet mask from Simple 😍 It’s always fun having bubbles in a bath! xx

  2. Omg I love a self-care Sunday! I use Shea butter hair masks and it always brings my hair back to life after using purple shampoo which dries my hair out, the cons of having blonde hair. Thank you so much for sharing! xx

  3. I am not a huge fan of baths for some reason, but the maui hair mask sounds great! Really need to find a great way to take care of my hair more! Thank you for sharing x

  4. Love this post Katie! I always love a good bubble bath too! I’m obsessed with this radox lavender bubble bath at the moment! I also love a good fruity bath bomb too!

  5. Aww congrats for getting your own bath and relaxing in it. Theres a child in everyone. Who can deny the sight of the bath bomb dissolving in water.. simply a pleasure! I know the summer Friday mask but don’t know the rest of the product. Will check <3

  6. I miss having a bath, but this sounds like a wonderful Sunday!
I do try to have weekly pamper nights with a face mask, but it has been forever since I used a hair mask!

  7. That bath moisturizer seems like a great idea. I too forget to moisturized my body during the day (oops). Although, I don’t like anything too strong, I prefer something more calm & relaxing. Something that is good right before bed and your product seems perfect for that. I’ll look into it.

  8. I love doing masks while taking a bath. So practical. And I have that same Deep Sleep Body Cocoon but have yet to try it. It’s still sealed and yet I can smell it perfectly – does it linger for long? I’m worried it’s too overpowering for right before bed for me.

  9. I am so happy that with a new home we finally have a bath! I never had a bath, so I am hyped! I liked reading your post, and you have tons of fun self care items (definitely want to try that moisterizer and bubble bath).

  10. Love me some bubble bath! It makes the whole process seems lux but for the most part it’s pretty relaxing and my body needs that ASAP. Love your self care routine, doll! xx

  11. You have such a great variety of products!! I love posts like these 🙂🙂 looks like you have a great selfcare routine!! Xx

  12. I love having a pamper evening at the weekends so much. Toning my hair is something I love as the results afterwards are always fab.

  13. Having a bath in the evenings is my favourite way to relax and unwind from the day. I love the sound of the Eve zoom cleansers, I’ve heard good things about it! X

  14. I’m shocked you went without a bath for so long !! Glad your new flat ahs one though, all the better to get the best use out of it, I find Epsom salts with rosemary oil or lavender are very relaxing in a bath along with dimmer lighting as bathrooms can be so bright… enjoy hun xxx

  15. I love that No7 face mask, it is so good. And you have to have bubble bath, it’s not a proper bath otherwise!

  16. Yay for self-care! Most of the time I don’t plan enough time for hair masks and face masks and now I want to make sure I’m better about consistently planning time like once a week to work these into my self-care regime.

  17. Wow! You sound so moisturized. I need to get motivated toward better self care. I mean, I love lighting a candle and putting on music and drinking my tea, but I wish I could get myself to take better care of my skin and hair. Good on you!!

  18. Baths are so relaxing! I’ve never thought of double masking, but now I just might have to try it to see what it’s like. I’m intrigued. 🙂

  19. I love This Works products. I cannot go a night without their deep sleep pillow spray 😴 there really is nothing better than a bath with all the trimmings! Thanks for sharing what you use 🤍
