Glow Recipe Banana Soufflé Moisture Cream | Is It Worth The Hype?

Continuing on my ‘trying hyped skincare to see if it’s worth the expensive price tag’ (really catchy right?!) today we have the Glow Recipe Banana Soufflé Moisture Cream. I have a mini from one of my advent calendars, but the full size (with 50ml of product) will set you back a hefty £36. And after seeing everyone and their mother raving about it on Instagram, I kind of want to see if it’s not only worth the price, but also the hype… so let’s go!

A Little About My Skin

I don’t often include these in reviews, but with it being a moisturiser, I thought it was important. But I’ll keep it brief! I have combination skin – I get breakouts and excess oil on my chin and cheeks, but I have a dry T zone which is sort of backwards, but whatever. My skin gets very red very easily, and I have a small amount of texture, but nothing to be concerned about. And my pores are sort of average.

Glow Recipe – The Claims On The Website

On the Cult Beauty website, this is what they say ‘Boasting a special bouncy soufflé texture that comforts like a cream but has the lightness of a gel, Glow Recipe’s Banana Soufflé Moisture Cream is uniquely formulated with banana, a rich source of magnesium, potassium, cica and turmeric to hydrate, soothe, and rescue skin from everyday stress – that means less redness, sensitivity or excessive dryness. Plus, the formula is silicone-free, dye-free, and synthetic fragrance-free! Want a pro tip? Stick Banana Soufflé in the fridge for 10 minutes before applying for a cooling sensation that helps reduce inflammation.’

The Texture & Scent

The texture is so interesting… it really does have this soufflé-y about it, with a really inviting yellow colour. The cream is cooling on the skin (even if you don’t put it in the fridge, but if it’s in the fridge it’s really lovely!) and absorbs super duper quickly. It’s also quite thick, which means you only use a very little amount every time. It doesn’t really have a smell to it (just a light lingering smell of something a little bananary mixed with a general cream smell), however some people seem to think it smells really strongly of banana sweets, so who knows! I would probably be careful, and maybe get a mini before committing if you’re sensitive to scents

The Formula & Did It Work?

As I said, I have naturally very red skin! It just goes red when I touch it, use toner, pretty much anything (similarly I bruise if I just walk into a table… really slowly! Probably not related, but yeah). However, I found this really gentle on my skin giving a good level of moisture and yet it was also calming and helped keep the redness at bay. And it didn’t leave a greasy or sticky residue on my skin (which I find cheaper alternatives to this can), which made it the perfect morning moisturiser under makeup. Do I think it’s completely life changing and you should run out and get it now? No, not really. I’m not 100% convinced I’d repurchase (unless it was on offer). But if you like to treat yourself then it’s a really lovely moisturiser and you won’t be disappointed.

Have you tried this? If so, what did you think?

  1. I haven’t tried it yet, but I really like Glow Recipe product and their packaging is always on point! Would probably try it just because it’s a bana soufflé moisturiser lol Might give it a change for the hydration! Thank you for sharing x

  2. I’m actually really glad I read this because a friend had almost convinced me to buy it! My skin is so so sensitive and very red and acne prone and she swore it’s be life changing for my redness but after reading the review here I think I’ll give it a miss! She has very healthy skin so I don’t always trust her opinions of what works for skin that isn’t so flawless!

    1. Hahaha! Everything works slightly differently for different skintypes! My skin breaks out a lot and can be a little difficult, and this is a nice moisturiser but I wouldn’t say you NEED it! x

  3. Not heard of this but it definitely looks good! 😊 Can’t beat a bit of whipped moisturiser to brighten up your days! ❤️ Xo

  4. I think you’ve inspired me to give this one a try… I HATE when moisturizers are greasy and I’m happy to know this one wasn’t! Thank you for sharing!

  6. The formula sounds fantastic but I’m glad to read a real honest review as I have seen the hype surrounding this product. x

  7. Interesting, interesting, interesting! I love ‘is it worth the hype’ reviews when the product in question is geared toward skin like mine: I too struggle with grease and breakouts, so it was lovely reading this. I <3 the idea of trying a sample size before going all in!

  8. I am always looking for a good moisturizer, but I’m not sure about the banana smell, lol. That seems a little strange to me. 🙂

  9. I’ve been dying to try glow recipe for a while now and this sounds fab!! Thanks for sharing!xx

  10. Great post! I love the look and sound of this cream—the way it’s described and named (and the brand name) almost makes it sound delicious to eat? Lol. I’d love to give this one a try some day. Thank you for sharing!
