Makeup Tutorial Colourful Halo Eye

I’m actually really enjoying my little FOTD series. It’s nothing new and nothing unique, but it’s a fun way to try new looks! And with my recent eyeshadow palette challenge I realised I really love my coloured eyeshadows and I really need to use them more, so here we go! A colourful look that’s actually somewhat wearable using one of my favourite palettes; the Juvia’s Place Mini Masquerade’s Palette!

Also, on a complete side note… doing this post has really made me realise I cannot wait for brow bars to reopen! I tried not to pluck them too much as I don’t want to do something stupid… but they’re in serious need of doing!

For base I kept it super simple and used an old favourite the L’Oreal Infaillible Magic Essence Drops to leave my skin feeling super hydrated and feeling ready for makeup! I then dug an oldie out of my collection; the Max Factor Radiance Life Foundation. It’s one of those products I’ve always forget about but when I use it I kinda love how it makes my skin look… though it does cling to dry skin like anything. Which is an odd trait in a radiance foundation. And then finish the base off with two firm favourites which I’m un-verbally trying to pan/finish this year; the L’Oreal Infaillible More Than Concealer and RCMA The Original No Colour Powder.

Before I go into the rest of the base products on my face.. can we just talk about exactly how much my camera picks up! Like zooming in is kinda creepy… and I covered the tail of my brows with my fringe because no one wants to see that… also I had a haircut and I’m blonde again! And that’s enough rambling.

To put a bit of colour back into the skin I used a collection of beyond favourites! Products that I know will look flawless and natural and will let the eyeshadow do the talking! The Max Factor Creme Bronzer in Light Gold, NARS Orgasm Blush, a swirl of all the shades from the HUDA Beauty Winter Highlighter Palette. And then an attempt of taming my brows with the Rimmel Brow Pro Micro Pencil.

Then we’re onto the eyes! And I’m using one of my new found favourites the Juvia’s Place Mini Masquerade’s Palette. I started off with using Burkina all over the lid and through the crease. As you can see from this very close picture, I have freckles even on my eyelid and this helps tone them down a little! To add that purple hue I added Zobo on the outer corner and inner corner creating a halo effect. I also winged out the eyeshadow a little! To deepen the inner and outer corners I added a tiny bit of Ada which is a deep red toned brown.

And then the star of the show. I added Zola in the centre of the lid. Tried to use a flat eyeshadow brush, but it just wasn’t cutting it, so had to use my finger and that’s what helped it pop! Then finish the eye off with the Maybelline Lash Sensational. And there you go!

Whenever I wear colour on the lid, I tend to avoid it on the lips. So went with the Bourjois Rouge Velvet The Lipstick in 03. Matches the pinker undertones of the eyeshadow while keeping it neutral!

What do you think of this look?

  1. You’re trying to use up the RCMA powder?? You brave woman. I’ve just purchase it and I’m sure I’ll have some left to pass on to my great grandchildren. For how long have you been using it? Also, love your eyeshadow look, so ethereal.

    1. Hahah! I mean I’ve had literally this as my only powder for about 10 months now and I’m only half way through it. They last forever!!
