Maybelline launched a new foundation, and following the launch of their ever favourite Superstay foundation… my expectations were high!
The foundation is question is the Maybelline Dream Urban Cover Foundation! At £10.99 a pop it fits solidly smack bang in the middle of the drugstore foundation range
Discover the new Dream Urban Cover Lightweight Full Coverage Makeup from Maybelline, its first foundation to combine full coverage with SPF 50 broad spectrum.
As well as being smooth, light and easy to apply, this protective foundation is enriched with anti-oxidants such as Vitamin E, Vitamin B3 and baicaline and helps to form a shield and defend skin from pollution.
This lightweight full coverage foundation comes in 20 different shades and is best suited to normal/dry skin types. Dream Urban Cover will smooth away signs of dull skin to create a natural and healthy looking complexion.
So effectively high coverage but lightweight foundation that’s hydrating! Match made in heaven right?
The foundation comes in 20 shades from Fair Porcelain (which I have) to Mocha. The shade range is actually pretty good, but it could be better…. Although, the impressive thing about this range is the SPF 50 sun protection!
The packaging is also pretty simple, and classy, with a squeeze applicator that’s actually quite precise! Packaging definitely gets the thumbs up!
However… in terms of formula… nah! With a lot of the primers in my collection this did that really weird thing foundation does where it balls up and almost shed off the skin! And if I did get it to stay on my face while I was applying it (which is basically when I don’t wear a primer), it didn’t last. I’d look at my face half way through the day and everything had broken down…. just not good!
I mean I’d love to write an indepth review about the bits I liked and the bits I didn’t, how it applied, wore, the coverage, all of it. But honestly, just hated it! And don’t really want to give it any more time of day!
This is no offence to Maybelline! Their mascaras? Incredible! Their brow satin pencil? I mean you all know this is my go to! Even their Superstay Foundation and Superstay Stick Foundations? Both brilliant! Just give this one a miss!
Have you tried this? What did you think?
