Dose of Colors is one of those brands I’d always wanted to try. I’d seen their lipsticks on a number of influencers I love and trust and so in the Black Friday sales I picked on of their Liquid Matte Lipsticks up in the shade Truffle. And after using it for a few weeks (or near on months now), thought I’d share with your my thoughts…
Price & Packaging
The packaging is gorgeous! It comes in this stunning matte tube with a matte black lid, with a decent sized doe foot applicator with a tilt at the end. All in all, love it! The price point is £18 a tube making is relatively expensive, but also not unreasonable! And, I picked mine up in the sales on Black Friday so a better steal for me!
Shade Range
I picked up the shade Truffle, which is a gorgeous everyday pink-toned mood! However, there are 35 shades of it on BeautyBay (where you can pick it up in the UK), and they have such a great range of shades. You can pick up all different tones and shades of nudes, some gorgeous reds, berries and there’s even a rogue purple and black in there! I actually think it’s a really good shade range, and it’s nice that they would suit such a wide range of skin tones and undertones.
Formula
This is one of those matte liquid lipsticks that goes on creamy (making it super easy to apply), and then dries down very quickly to a matte. It doesn’t seem to bleed and there’s relatively little transfer (you do find a little mark on your mug… but when don’t you?!). The wear power is pretty impressive, it doesn’t dry of flake and so it fades nicely as it wears on the lips. It is weightless on the lips (so you don’t feel like you’re wearing a lipstick- which I love), but I do also feel like your lips are in need of a lipbalm at the end of the day! So it your lips are really dry, you may want to be careful of this or apply a lip balm in the morning before you put it on!
Overall Impressions
All in all, I love this lipstick and I’ll 100% keep using this. I’d love to try some of the other lipstick ranges from Dose of Colors (as they do have non-matte formulas), and I’d also love to get a nice classic red in this formula.
Have you tried this brand?
