So here’s the funny thing. I considered washing these brushes before this post… and then thought! Nah, let this be a realistic roundup of my favourite brushes. They’re dirty and used and loved. I don’t wash them anywhere near as much as I should. I use them pretty much everyday. And I’d be sad if I lost any of them because I’m weird and have a weird emotional attachment to my makeup brushes!
Foundation Brush
To be honest, I usually use a sponge to apply my makeup, and it’s usually a Real Techniques Complexion Sponge. But sometimes you just fancy a foundation brush and for those odd occasions I use the Real Techniques Buffing Brush. I feel like this is such a classic! One of the very first (if not the first) brush RT came out with, this has been in my collection for years and hasn’t aged a day!
Powder Brush
So I actually love a lot of different brands, and while you’ll see some recurring brands in this post this is one of those brands where I’ve tried a number of their brushes but this is the only one I’ve ever loved! And it’s the B. Cosmetics Powder Brush. It’s big, fluffy, soft and disperses the powder perfectly!
Bronzer Brush
I have a few favs in this collection… but to be fair it depends on what I want or need my bronzer to do! If I’m looking for a proper chizzled cheek, I’m opting for the NYX 02 Brush. It’s the only NYX brush I’ve actually ever tried, but it does exactly what I need it to do perfectly. It’s packed into a jaw boned shape size, but has this slight fluffyness that stops everything from being too harsh. And then if I want a true bronzer brush, where you lather it almost everywhere and you just want warmth wherever the sun could possibly hit you, I love the Real Techniques Powder Blush. While it’s strictly speaking for powder, I love it for bronzer!
Blush Brush
Tp be honest, I use this a lot for bronzer so if I’m looking for the accuracy but something a little less harsh or contoury. However, I also love it as a blush brush… it feels fitting considering the name. It’s the Real Techniques Multi-Task Brush. To be honest, this brush is one of the softest in my collection.
Highlighter Brush
Ooo this is hands down one of the favourite makeup brushes in my collection. It’s one of those rare gems I got from my beauty boxes when I used to get them and it’s the Luxie Tapered Highlight Brush. I know very little about this brand other than this brush and it’s gorgeous! Soft, easy to clean, has a beautiful shape and it applies highlighter beautifully!
Eyeshadow Brushes
I feel lie this is quite a big section, but come on you need a good number of eyeshadow brushes! And pretty much ever single one is from a different brand! They’re all soft, do their job brilliants, have stunning bristles and are soft! Just generally these eyeshadow brushes are incredible. So I’m just going to list them for you below!
Zoeva Luxe Crease Brush, Jessup Luxe Soft Crease Brush, Luxie Small Tapered Blending, Real Techniques B04, Real Techniques Base Shadow Brush, To Save Flat Eyeshadow Brush, Eco Tools Precision Blending
And there you go. If I had to cut back my entire makeup collection and pick only a handful of brushes, they would be it! The 13 brushes and 1 sponge I couldn’t live without.
What are your brush recommendations?
