L’Oreal – the brand that aces mascaras like no other – have launched a new and updated version of their Superstar Original mascara (which I really hated) called the False Lash X-Fiber Mascara. At £8.99 and coming in both waterproof and non-waterproof it’s a good middle of the range option!
L’Oréal Paris False Lash X-Fiber Mascara is a two-step formula that works to volumise and lengthen lashes. The first step, the primer, has been formulated to volumise lashes by thickening each lash from root to tip, while the second step is adding the formula that contains fibres, which work to lengthen lashes to mimic a false lash look.
Sounds good right? Normally these two step mascaras have a white primer, that makes your lashes look just a little odd, and then a mascara that doesn’t seem to pair well with the primer. In fact, I normally see a two step mascara and run.. fast. But, I thought I would give this a go.
The black primer gives a great base, its hourglass shape really helps to add volume to the base of the lashes. And then the actual mascara, with a slightly curved wand is perfect for lengthening, definition and a subtle curl. Both sides have rich pigment and are super easy to use, as neither brush is excessively large.
This mascara actually makes your lashes look amazing! A little bit of everything – length, definition and volume – and doesn’t clump. I wouldn’t quite say they look completely identical to wearing falsies… but it’s pretty damn close.
Obviously having a two-step system requires more time than your average one-step mascara. But, worth it. I think this mascara is such a steal, and I have no doubt I will continue to use this mascara for many months (maybe years) to come.
Have you tried this? If so, what are your thoughts?
