I’ve tried every one of the Maybelline eyeshadow palettes, and every time I’ve been massively underwhelmed. For a brand who does most things SO well, it’s a shame they seem to be lacking on the (powder) eyeshadow front. However, the shade combo in this palette was very me, and got me very excited, so putting all thoughts aside, let’s try this out!
So, Maybelline have launched a new eyeshadow palette, this time containing a nice array of warm burgundy shades (yes Maybelline!). At £11.99 it’s a good price for 12 shades. And the packaging is simple, yet still nice.
The shade range is beautiful, and they seem to swatch well. They feel buttery (eurgh that word) to the touch and the kick up in the pan is not too bad. When put on the eyes they come across well, the colours show up and blend… but Maybelline we need more matte shades! There are only 2 matte shades in this palette (the light brown, and the darker brown), and I really felt like it could have done with a burgundy shade…. in matte…
The shimmer shades really lose their shimmer throughout the day, but past that the colour holds well.
Overall, a good palette. The shades are pretty, the price is good, the formula is good, the lasting power is good, everything is just good. It’s a good palette. The adjectives teachers hate because it doesn’t really say anything, and that’s the problem… I have nothing to say.. it’s just good. Which is my overall impression of Maybelline shadows, they’re not bad, they’re not amazing, they’re nothing impressive or unique, they’re just… good.
Have you tried this palette? If so, what are your thoughts?
