Rimmel have joined the matte liquid lipstick train, and about time. As one of my favourite drugstore brands ever, I have been waiting (very unpatiently) for these for a long time. With 15 shades at £5.99 I was very very excited!
First thing to say about the shade range, is that there is a lot of nudes! Which is possibly a great thing, but it actually means that a lot of the colours in this range are very similar. But, than again, you have everything you need: nudes, pinks, reds and some crazy colours like grey and navy blue.
When it comes to formula, I find the nudes are slightly better than the bolder shades. The bolder shades need two coats really to be completely opaque, but they layer really well, so I’ve got to say, I can’t really complain. They dry down to be completely matte fairly quickly, and then they’re completely kiss proof. Their lasting power is impressive, but nothing out of this world, and overall they’re really impressive.
Like most liquid lipsticks, I find they are a tad drying, but nothing that a good lipbalm first thing won’t fix. They come with quite a strong, sweet smell, that really doesn’t bother me, but I know it will put of some people.
Colours from left to right: 830 (Blue Iris), 820 (Heartbeat), 810 (Plum This Show), 720 (Mocha), 700 (Be My Baby), 210 (Rose & Shine), 200 (Pink Blink), 110 (Blush).
I only bought 8 shades, due to so many of them looking so similar, but I have to say I’m impressed with the shades I have, and (excluding the blue possibly) I feel like I’m going to get a fair amount of wear out of all of them!
Have you tried these? If so, what are your thoughts?
