January 21 Empties | Skincare, Haircare & Makeup | Would I Repurchase?

Normally I start these posts with a spiel about how quickly the previous month has gone past… but let’s face it today has been the longest January in the world. It feels like we’ve been in 2021 for years already. But putting that aside, I managed to finish so many products this month! You know when you have those moments where you somehow just finish up everything all at once? Yeah, this was one of those months…

So I’ve got haircare, skincare, makeup and even some random things like Collagen pills. But all in all, I hope you enjoy…

Haircare Empties

TRESemme Keratin Smooth Shampoo & Conditioner

So… ‘A recent class-action lawsuit emerged with Unilever and Conopco Inc. for its TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Color Shampoo for containing DMDM hydantoin, which is believed to cause hair loss and scalp irritation for consumers.’ While I noticed 0 negative side effects when I was using it, it does make me a little nervous.

John Frieda Frizz Ease Original Serum

We all know I’m obsessed with this product! My hair just doesn’t feel as soft and glossy without it and I’ll 100% be repurchasing for as long as nothing else comes along!

Repurchase? Yes

TRESemme Pro Collection Intensive Mask

This hair mask was fine… like it did the job and left my hair feeling soft, but I don’t think I’ll be shouting to the heavens about it! For the £5 price tag it’s pretty good though, so when and if it’s on offer I may pick it back up again

Repurchase? Maybe

Provoke Touch of silver Toning Treatment Mask

I LOVE this toner! It really helps keep my brassy tones under control! It smells a little funky while it’s in, but this is such an underrated product!

Skincare Empties

Florence By Mills Get That Grime Face Scrub

This was such a lovely easy and light face scrub! You can tell that this brand is suited for younger or more sensitive skin. However, considering its target audience, the price tag is quite high!

Repurchase? Maybe

Superdrug Vitamin E Eye Cream

This is one of those eye creams that is just nice. It does the job and I find myself gravitating back to it (because it’s so cheap), but if you really suffer from dark circles or puffiness, then maybe go for something a little heavier.

Repurchase? Yes

Paw Paw Multipurpose Soothing Balm

This is just a really nice all purpose brand! It is a great lip balm as well as a balm for all sorts of other things!

Repurchase? Yes

L’Oreal Pure Clay Detox Mask

This is the first of these L’Oreal masks I’ve tried and I have to say I’m SO impressed! It really helped to detoxify my skin and leave everything feel super clean and fresh! I’d love to try some of the other masks in this range!

Repurchase? Yes

Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil

This was a lovely light face oil that absorbs super quickly! Such a great face oil to use in the morning under makeup, as it doesn’t interrupt foundation at all! It’s the first thing I’ve tried from Drunk Elephant and I can’t wait to try more! Just wish they weren’t so expensive!

Repurchase? Yes

NIP + FAB Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads

This is my favourite toner! It does such an amazing job of helping with texture and everything on my skin and I’ve been using them for YEARS! They’re one of those skincare products I take a break from here or there (maybe to try something else, or just to give my skin a break), but when I go back to it, my skin loves me for it

Repurchase? Yes

REN Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic

Another great toner! I found this really helps with redness and pores. I don’t particularly suffer with bad pored, but sometimes I do have a weird amount of redness and so this kind of product really comes in handy!

Repurchase? Yes

L’Occitane Invigorating Face & Eye Mask

I loved this sample! It left my skin looking and feeling fresh! While I only got one use out of it, it was a really lovely face mask. However, it is expensive, and I’m not 100% convinced it’s worth the money!

Makeup Empties

L’Oreal Lash Paradise Extatic Mascara

LOVE this Mascara! I’ve only finished two makeup empties this month, but they’re both favourites and both things I would repurchase all the time! Gives great volume and length and is a good dupe for the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara!

Repurchase? Yes

Max Factor Brow Shaper Brow Pencil

Another classic this is an amazing brow pencil for its cost! A perfect shade match for me, this is a super fine brow pencil that lets you draw on fake eyebrow hairs with little effort. My only negative thing is really that you finish it really fast!

Repurchase? Yes

Various Empties

Radox Stress Relief Bath Therapy

This is just a classic. It’s a really nice bubble bath and I already have 3 more from them

Repurchase? Yes

Mitchum Shower Fresh Antiperspirant

I’m the kind of person who buys whatever is on offer to be fair, but this one was pretty good

Repurchase? Yes

Correxiko Marine Collagen Capsules*

A full review will be coming on this at some point, but I found it did actually work! Not in the way I thought it would (as in my skin barely changed), but my hair and nails both thrived on it and I gained muscle at a rate I wasn’t in previous months before I was taking this… even though my exercise changed very little.

Repurchase? Probably

B. Makeup Brush Cleanser

I LOVE this brush cleanser! And B. have actually repackaged a lot since I bought this (as I batch bought a lot) so I can’t comment as to whether the new one is just as good, but I’d love to try it. This is the perfect product for spot cleaning your eyeshadow brushes

Repurchase? Yes

Colgate Advanced White Toothpaste

I mean it’s toothpaste. I swap between this and Oral B, but not sure what else I can say really!

*Gifted, but all opinions are my own

And there you have it, all my empties from the first month of 2021. It’s been a bit of a wild month not only globally but in my own life, and I can’t wait to share with you what’s been going on in my life in my next post… my January favourites and updates!

What have you finished up this month?

Katie x

  1. I love the empties post and always look forward to them! I tried a pumpkin serum from Drunk Elephant which I loved, but yes the price is the issue! The L’oreal clay mask is so good, isn’t it? Thank you for sharing, Katie x

  2. Thank you for your post! I finished up my Cerave sunscreen last month and will definitely be repurchasing. I will have to check out the REN tonic.

  3. I haven’t used the Nip + Fab pads for ages but I used to be obsessed with them! I found an old picture of myself recently where I had a bit of pigmentation and I’m sure it was that product that helped it. I need to pick them up again x

  4. So I finally scrolled through your page till I reached my most favorite topic.. the beauty range! I don’t trust tresemme, John frieda I do, always enjoy lip balms, so will look up these products. Also in your previous posts u mentioned loreal lash paradise is better than too faced better than sex mascara, in this one you are talking about another of their ecstatic mascara, I will definitely check this one too. Quite a lot of products you covered here today! Thanks for sharing <3

  5. I’ve been wanting to try some of the florence skincare but have been put off by the price tag so im gonna go read your review! But i love ’empties’ blog posts!

  6. I freaking love reading posts like these and seeing what people would repurchase. You have a few items here that you liked that I’ve had on my own list to try, so that’s super encouraging! I can’t wait to get them myself soon!

  7. It was interesting to read about your opinions on different skincare and haircare products. I never know what to buy, or what actually does the job it says it does on the label. I’ll have to check out the Superdrug Vitamin E Eye Cream and the L’Oreal Pure Clay Detox Mask, as they both sound good! I love Radox bubble bath as well, but as you say, it is a classic. Thank you for sharing. 😊

  8. I love hearing what real people think about products.Thank you for your honest opinion. I’m definitely intrigued by the L’Oreal Mask. I have been getting into masks over the past year but haven’t tried one of theirs. I will have to look for one next time I’m out. 🙂

  9. I love collagen, haven’t seen much difference for my skin either, but my always cumbling nails always get stronger when I’m taking it regularly.

  10. I need to try that hair serum. I use the John Frieda detangling and leave in conditioner. I don’t love the smell. But it makes my hair so soft.

  11. I swear by John Frieda for all my frizzy girls out there, it used to be my go to for my naturally curly hair. But lately I’ve been using Righteous Roots RX, a little goes along way but I feel like it helps nourish my hair instead of trying to weight it down like the serum in John Frieda does.
