Is It Worth The Hype? | By Terry Ombre Blackstar

Who remembers when By Terry Ombre Blackstars were all the rage? It felt like there was nowhere you could look without seeing it and I’m about 3 years late to the game… but better late than never right? Well I have the mini of the shade Bronze Moon and I’m beyond excited to have this in my collection!

Packaging & Price

So at £29 for the full size and £15 for the mini these things really aren’t cheap! They work out pretty pricey considering you get only one shade and for £29 you can get a whole palette (or 4 in the case of a brand like Makeup Revolution).

They come in this stunning gold tube, with a wind up cream eyeshadow. Something most surprising about it, is it’s surprisingly light… there’s something about a weighty product that gives it a feeling of luxury, and that’s what this feels to be missing.

Colour

The shade I have is Bronze Moon, and this is a stunning coppery brown shade. There are 8 other shimmery gold, rose gold, coppery and black shades in the range so there’s something there for everyone! But every shade has a stunning iridescent finish.

Formula

So as you can tell from the swatch below, these shades are bold and pigmented! There’s no messing around with these! They apply on the eyes really easily and blend out even easier! And to pair off the whole thing they work really well with powder eyeshadows to create a look with slightly more depth! Or just apply it on it’s own to be fair for a simple and effortless look!

They last pretty much all day looking as vibrant at the end of the day as they do at the beginning. They don’t crease (which is one of the most surprising things) and all in all I’m massively impressed! There’s a little bit of fall out throughout the day, with a tiny bit of glitter falling onto your cheek… but it’s minimal!

Overall Impressions

These are stunning! The shade is gorgeous and the wear power is super impressive. However, do I think it’s worth the money? And do I think that you couldn’t replicate the same look with a cheaper and more accessible powder shadow? No. So, I guess it depends whether there’s a colour in there you REALLY want!

Have you tried this eyeshadow? If so, what did you think?

  1. I’ve not heard of this but I’m always late to the game, tbh, haha! This looks amazing as the pigment is so good (I’ve been disappointed before with other brands). I hope this is available on the US or can be shipped! Thanks for sharing!

  2. I haven’t tried this one but I’ve tried similar ones from cheaper brands. I’ve found the cheaper ones to be so much less pigmentated so sometimes it worth spending the extra to get the colour you’d like.

  3. I worked as a makeup artist for almost 2 decades and By Terry was one of my favorite brands to work with. The products are beautifully pigmented, made exceptionally well and are highly versitle. The eyeshadow sticks are actually made with anti-aging peptides as well (anything from By Terry that comes in the gold packaging includes these ingredients while the blue packaging are more basic). If you’ve never tried their foundation, it’s amazing! It actually color corrects on the skin up to 5 shades so whether you are tan or in need of one it’s always perfect! I genuinely loved this review and I’m so happy you loved your product!

  4. I haven’t heard of them! But I must say that from the applicator it might be the first time that I will ever give in eyeshadows! Thanks for sharing x

  5. I haven’t tried this but I do have the kilo eyeshadow stick in rosy brown everyone says is a dupe and it’s lovely. They have a huge range of colours too, some matte and some shimmer. You should definitely check then out
