So I’ve got to that point in my life where I just have too much stuff! I became such an avid collector of all things pretty over the last few years that I now have more makeup than I could ever even consider using, let alone actually get through before they go off.
There are lipsticks in my collection I don’t think have been worn for months. I have a habit of returning to the same handful of lipsticks over and over again, and I think it’s partly because there are just too many.
So, time to downsize.
Splitting this into a few parts, I’m going to talk through some of the standout products I’m keeping and decluttering… and hopefully sort them out a little\
While I love the Bourjois Velvet The Pencils, I just cannot work out how to sharpen these, so they’re slowly becoming redundant. But if you have the right sharpener, they’re creamy and easy to apply and come in some beautiful shades. The Revolution Pro Pencils are just in shades I don’t particularly want… and it means I haven’t really used them enough to form an opinion. And then the rest of them I’m planning on keeping because the formulas and colours are all stunning!
The three Maybelline Colour Sensational lipsticks are all relatively new and all equally beautiful shades, so totally going to keep hold of these. They’re also just such a throwback! I’m also holding onto the Bourjois Rouge Laque in Jolie Brune, because I mean come on, it’s a beautiful shade . I have a few thicker, creamier formulas in this drawer.. but they all smell a little funky, so I think it’s time to get rid of them all…. ahhh
The Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks are just gorgeous, there is no way I could get rid of these! The NARS Lip Glide in Burning Love is one of the most stunning red lipsticks.. and one that I’d actually completely forgotten about. And while the other liquid lipsticks in here are nice, I just don’t wear them!
This is one of those drawers I really sucked in getting rid of anything. The Topshop Lipstick really is one of my favourites, however mine is smushed beyond all compare and basically empty, so I think I’m going to get rid of it. I have to say I really do prefer the this Topshop packaging with the stripes… the new packaging is just so much like everything else on the market. The other lipsticks in this drawer? Keeping… wow.
So this seems to be a drawer exclusively of the L’Oreal Rouge Matte Liquid Lipsticks. I really do love this formula, they’re easy to apply, really long lasting and don’t transfer too much, and the pink and red colours are two of my most worn lipsticks of all time. However, the shade I Enjoy is patchy as anything for some reason, and as beautiful as I Achieve is, it’s just not a colour I could see myself wearing often, so I think it’s time to say goodbye to these two.
Good start ey? There’s something so satisfying about decluttering and downsizing, and I’m hoping I’m not going to miss anything… ha!
See you on Sunday for part 2!
