Rimmel Magnif'Eyes Spice Edition Review

I have never been ashamed to say that Rimmel and Maybelline just don’t do the eyeshadow palettes for me. Something about their formula and colour layout is just so so that I could never justify the price. However, when I saw the new palette from Rimmel I knew I HAD to try it! I’m very into warm neutrals, which I no secret, it would literally take a second for you to look through my palette collection and work that out for yourself.

Rimmel have launched a new palette to their Magnif-Eyes collection – the Spice Edition. At £8.99 for 12 shades it’s very reasonably priced.

The packaging here is simple and mirrorless and it comes with a pretty naff brush, but all things aside, there is definitely worse packaging.

The colour layout comes from a beautiful shimmer white, to warm browns, red browns, coppers, a brown and just lots and lots of warm tones. The palette has half shimmers and half matte shades and the colour layout is just something that really appeals to me. A few of the shades are very similar, and in a palette of this size, it might have been nice to have had a few different shades, but overall, it literally has everything I would need.

The formula is super pigmented, seriously Rimmel are not messing around. The swatches below are literally one swipe. There’s a fair amount of kick up in the pan, but as long as you tap off your brush, there’s no fall out on the face. The eyeshadows blend well together and work better with a primer/concealer base, but also work fairly well on their own. The staying power is fairly impressive with one or two of the shades not lasting as long as the others (mainly the super pale matte shades). The palette has no scent, which sounds random, but it’s actually kind of refreshing after so many scented palettes.

Overall this is nothing new, there are a hundred and one palettes out there in this colour layout. However, I love it! I’m always up for another warm-toned neutral palette and I feel like I’m going to use this one a lot!

Have you tried this? If so, what are your thoughts?
