Dior Backstage Face and Body Foundation Review

So believe it or not, but I don’t own a high end foundation.. so I decided to go in gently and try one that is more high end drugstore… yeah, no. I went head first all in and picked up the brand new Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation in the shade 1W.

Launched in 40 shades that cover the very palest to the very tanned, this foundation is £29 and so not actually completely extravagant. Especially for Dior. I have a shade 1W which is actually not the lightest shade… yes! I know! Crazy right! The most exciting this about this is that it’s a super buildable foundation. It can be a light coverage with one layer, medium coverage with two layers (the way I like it) and full coverage with three layers.

But the thing that really really really intrigued me, especially with it being Summer:

The waterproof formula of the Dior Backstage Face & Body foundation creates an invisible mesh on the skin and resists extreme conditions: workout sessions, water, extreme temperatures and humid environments. It even resists the bright lights both backstage and above the catwalk.

First things first this foundation is beautiful and I really do enjoy using it! It’s super blendable and easy to apply, and I find it layers up pretty well without feeling super heavy and cackey on the skin. I apply with a beauty blender, because I really can’t get on with brushes, but I’ve heard you can apply it with a brush too.

It has a natural satin finish and blends well together with my concealers…. one downside with this foundation is don’t over powder. I found out pretty soon that if you put too much powder all over your face it doesn’t react well with this foundation. But apply a little bit, and you’re all good to go!

The foundation is fairly long lasting! It does rub off if you touch your face (i.e. you have hay fever and you rub your nose, or your find yourself scratching your forehead, or any other weird habit) but essentially it lasts really well… especially on my forehead and cheeks! I’m not sure about the waterproof side of it, because I haven’t been swimming for ages and when I’m in the shower I’m using face wash, however, it does last very well when it’s super hot outside and so you are… perspiring

Overall I’m pretty impressed with foundation. In fact I really do like it! If you’re into Dior or high end foundations, then I would definitely recommend it! However, with the huge price tag that comes along with it, I would say I like the NYX foundation that comes in the dropper packaging and has the same buildable coverage is very comparable!

Have you tried this? If so, what were your thoughts? First impression is over on my YouTube channel!

    1. I haven’t tried the Benefit one, but the Dior foundation is pretty good… I honestly prefer the NYX dupe of it though (the total control foundation), and it’s much much cheaper!

    1. I found for me it was a definite slow burner! On first application I thought it was super pretty but couldn’t work out if it was worth it. And then the more I use it, the more I realise I really love it! However, I don’t really perfectly fit into one shade 🙁 so I would definitely recommend going in a shop and seeing the shades in swatches in person
