L'Oreal Cherry My Cheri Mega Eyeshadow Palette Review

As far as I’m aware, this is L’Oreal’s first big eyeshadow palette, and as far as I can remember this is the first powder eyeshadow product I’ve tried from them (I love their Eye Paints, but they’re liquid shadows). This is their Cherry my Cheri palette with 16 peach-toned shades in. It smells rather deliciously of… something like cherry, but maybe more like peaches, but still very delicious and it is £14.99

At nearly £15 it is quite a lot for the drugstore, but it’s not completely unreasonable and you are getting a fair number of shades in the palette and 17 grams of product, which is not bad going.

The first thing to say about these shades is they have a fair amount of kick back, they’re those soft eyeshadows which are super easy to blend and have a fairly impressive pigment. However, it makes them fairly delicate and I managed to smash the grey/black on a trip home and my bag didn’t even get bashed. So I would suggest this as a palette to leave at home!

The packaging is peach and rose gold and a little bit clunky, but essentially it’s nice… also as silly as this sound the click opening is really lovely! It’s strong enough that it doesn’t just open on it’s own, but not so strong/stiff that it then becomes impossible to open! It doesn’t come with a mirror, which doesn’t really bother me as it’s lack of transportability.

The palette comes with 6 mattes, which are either peach or a neutral undertone (edging on cool toned), which are not normally my scene. But, I quite enjoy being pushed out of my comfort zone. You have some great transition shades and so no complaints there.

What I do enjoy in this palette are the shimmers, there’s all of my favs in here – rose gold, champagne, gold, reds, coppers, everything! I feel like it’s a really well balanced palette.

The shades blend out super pretty, but a lot of them are fairly similar when blended out on the eye. However, you are able to create a nice range of neutral peachy eyeshadow looks that will suit pretty much every skin tone. The mattes and shimmers last pretty well on the eyes (I would say they tend to wear off at the 9 hour mark… ish).

Overall a good palette. However, for £15 you can get the 15 colour Morphe palettes, or for just a little more you can get the Zoeva palettes… and I do think they just have something more to them! I can’t quite explain it, but they just have my heart more!

Have you tried this? If so, what were your thoughts?

  1. They had released the la palettes about three years ago, and although those were ‘ok’ they weren’t great and they also rang in at about $29 in Canada if I remember correctly. They are still available here and I haven’t been able to find any of the fun new drugstore stuff. Gotta keep my eyes peeled!

    1. Oh I’d never seen those! Bizzare. I feel like although L’Oreal is from Paris (just across the channel from the UK), we don’t actually get their full range 😂😂

  2. weirdly enough i kinda get what you mean by liking the way the palette clicks open lol! this looks like a good go-to palette, i would use up those shimmers too (just wish they were a little bit more pigmented)

  3. I’m never draw to traditional drugstore eyeshadow palettes for some reason. I think it’s because you can get so many other good, affordable brands that seem to do it a little bit better!
