NYX lip options are always a firm favourite in any girl’s makeup bag. If you haven’t tried any lip option from NYX, I would highly recommend going over to a counter and giving some of their lip options a swatch. They have every colour going in a lovely range of finishes. My favourites are the lip creams, but realistically, everything is a winner! So, when I find out my favourite lippie brand has come out with a new range… I literally jump all over it!
They’ve launched 8 shades in their new Powder Pull Lippie formula. At £8 a pop they’re reasonably priced and they come in a lovely array of wearable pinks, nudes and berry tones (there are no ridiculous blues or greens or anything… for now)
The packaging kind of does have the ‘cheaper’ makeup feel. They’re a long, slim, matte tube with a sponge tip applicator. However, then again, it’s functional and it does the job and I like the fact you know what colour is it from the colour of the tube.
The four colours I picked up are the four colours that called to me: (from left to right: Cool Intentions, Puppy Love, Group Love & Best Buds)
The sponge applicator is white when you first open the lip product, and with a little bit of dapping and squeezing of the tub, the colour does begin to come out. The formula is a strange hybrid between a liquid to powder. It’s so different! I think you’d probably refer to it as cream to powder finish.
The formula is fairly pigmented with not too much effort. The finish is a beautiful soft matte finish. However, yhey feel super comfortable on the lips (like you literally don’t even feel it on your lips!) and they wear really well because it does fade beautifully. It does look a lot nicer on a exfoliated lip, but it doesn’t cling to dry patches excessively
It you want that super crisp look you will need to use a lip liner with these products, it’s quite difficult to get a super clean finish to the lips with the sponge applicators. HOWEVER, these work beautifully for that ‘undone’ lip look. Don’t know what it is? Basically, you dab the product on you lip, push it into your skin with your finger tip, and it’s not meant to look completely finished or precise, and the edges are meant to be a little faded. I find this trend a lot easier to wear as it… wears super super well!
Overall, if you’re looking for a bold, precise and clean lip option, I probably wouldn’t recommend these. However, if you want that soft colour on the lip that lasts really well and wears well, but has that more ‘undone’ look about it. Then these are amazing!
