When ABH launch a new palette, the whole world goes insane (be it positively with the Modern Renaissance Palette or negatively with the Subculture Palette). I already owned the Modern Renaissance Palette and it was hands down my favourite palette of all time (possibly on par with the Naked Heat palette… yes.. I like warm tones).

The palette is £43, so quite expensive to be honest, but not completely unreasonable. And it comes in very similar packaging to the rest of the palettes.

The packaging is the velvet effect rectangular cardboard box, this time in a tan colour. Although I’m not the biggest fan of the packaging, it doesn’t feel super cheap as you would expect from cardboard packaging. The palette includes 14 shades ranging from a cream (which is basically my skin tone) to a black.

The undertone to this palette is scarily similar to the Modern Renaissance palette but much softer. And the shades are as follows:

Tempera: ultra-matte velvety beige
Glistening: iridescent gold with a hint of pink reflect
Orange Soda: ultra-matte pastel peach
Rose Pink: rose gold with a soft pink iridescent hue
Sultry: a hybrid satin metallic finish warm chocolate brown
Bronze: metallic gold bronze
Mulberry: ultra-matte mulberry
Dusty Rose: ultra-matte dusty lilac
Fairy: multi-dimensional light gold
Burnt Orange: ultra-matte deep orange
Sienna: ultra-matte earthy brown
Rustic: ultra-matte deep cinnamon brown
Cyprus Umber: ultra-matte dark coffee
Noir: ultra-matte deep carbon black

The pigmentation, as you would expect, is impressive… super impressive. They’re pigmented, blendable, long lasting and not in the least bit powdery. The kick back is… well a lot.. but it’s what you usually experience with an eyeshadow that packs as much pigment as this. And, as long as you tap off the brush before you then apply it to your eye, I don’t see any fall out.

Here it is with the Modern Renaissance Palette. And, while they’re both very similar, and you don’t honestly need both of them… I couldn’t care less. They’re both stunning and I do not regret purchasing it at all! I LOVE dusty rose for an everyday crease colour. Siena is also a stunner!

Basically a great palette, I love it and I’m definitely going to use it again and again and again. However, do you NEED it if you have the Modern Renaissance palette? Possibly not.

Have you tried this? If so, what are your thoughts?
