So this will be a fairly short and sweet blog post for today; reviewing the new Maybelline The City Lights Urban Light Eye and Cheek Palette. This is a palette which includes a blush, highlighter and 8 eyeshadows (organised into two looks) for £11.99… so, actually, not too bad for value.
The packaging is plastic, and a little cheap if I’m honest. However, I do like the holographic edging to the front. A lovely touch. However, that’s where the liking finishes. I haven’t done any swatches today because realistically nothing really shows up and everything is just glitter.
The eyeshadows (excluding the grey) are all too light to really do much and are soooo shimmery that they just form a glittery mess on the eyes. I have to say I really don’t like them. Then the highlighter is too dark for me (which is a skin-tone thing I guess and not really Maybelline’s fault), and the blusher is just too shimmery…
I feel like I’ve been so negative in this review, and I’m really sorry for that. I just don’t like this palette. And I am in no way bashing the brand! Their Brow Satin pencil is one of my favourite products of all time, their eyeliner, creme eyeshadows, Lash Sensational Mascara and lipsticks are all great!

I’ve never seen this palette before but these shades don’t really appeal to me either, they’re all quite bright and shimmery. I like the holographic front though, it reminds me of a busy city at night! xx
I really don’t get what maybelline are doing with this palette… but I agree, packaging is awesome 😊😊
