Maybelline, like L’Oreal, seem to own everyone’s favourite mascaras. I mean, is there a soul alive who hasn’t at least tried the Maybelline Lash Sensational? (Side note: definitely a firm favourite of mine). So, when either of these brands launch a new mascara, the beauty world gets excited.
Maybelline have launched another part to their Total Temptation range, a mascara. At £8.99 a pop it’s not too expensive, and definitely in the mid range of the drugstore. The packaging is this adorable matte-salmon colour, and the tube is fairly chunky.
First and foremost, the thing that really gets me with this mascara is the scent. This mascara is a scented product. I initially thought it was completely pointless to put something scented on your eyes (a fair way from your nose), then I remembers TooFaced have been making scented eye products since the beginning of time. It’s a gimic, and people love it. I’m happy to report that the scent had no side effects on my eyes, but then again I don’t really have sensitive eyes.
The wand is very similar to the L’Oreal Paradise mascara, if just just a little smaller. The formula is slightly wet, but many Maybelline mascaras start this way and dry out a little a few weeks in – when they then become so much better… weird. It’s a good mascara, it gives great volume (as you would expect from a wand like this), and some length, though it can be a little clumpy.. which, if you like this, then you will probably love it.
It can transfer quite a lot in the first few minutes (while it’s drying), but after that I can’t see any smudging or flaking throughout the day… which is basically the thing I need from a mascara. And it held up pretty well.
Honestly, I think the L’Oreal Paradise mascara is better. But it’s definitely a good mascara.
