New | Revlon Youth FX Foundation

Normally when I review a foundation, I go by section (formula, price, packaging etc. etc.), but I feel like the best way to review this is to go by my thought pattern…

So Revlon have launched a new foundation, having never actually tried a Revlon foundation before I didn’t actually know what to expect. At £13.99, it’s not the cheapest foundation, and with a shade range of only 7 shades it seems a little lacking. Also, lets just take a minute to take in that packaging… It looks more like it belongs in pound land that Revlon… ok that’s harsh, but it just looks and feels a bit cheap considering the price tag and the brand image, but ah well.

I got the lightest shade, which seems to match me pretty well, and doesn’t oxidise, which is awesome, but with 5 variations of light shades, and then a big jump to their darker shades you have to be one of the lucky few to be able to get away with this.

The first thing that strikes you about this foundation is it is thick, and I mean seriously thick. Work in small layers/sections though and it blends out super easy, and actually doesn’t feel heavy on the skin, which is kind of baffling. It has a medium coverage, possibly build able, but with the thickness of the foundation, I wouldn’t want to find out. And it looks really nice on the skin and all my other products seems to work really nicely with it. The fact the foundation is so thick means that it really smooths out your skin and kind of acts as a pore filling product also.

The lasting power is impressive, and it fades as opposed to separates.

It’s actually not a bad foundation, and it has a lot of positives, but there just seems to be a lot of issues with it – packaging, shade range, the fact you have to apply it in sections – I’m just not sure it’s worth it.
