The lip product launches over the last couple of months have been completely incredible; Rimmel The Only One Lipsticks Matte, L’Oreal Colour Riche Gold Obsessions, Max Factor Luxe Collection, and Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick. Collection have joined the game with their own launch; their Velvet Kiss Moisturising Lip Creams.
There are only six colours in the range; 2 nudes, 2 berry toned colours, 1 vampy red… and an orange… One can only assume that if the range is popular it’ll be expanded. However, there are still some lovely shades in this collection. I think the first thing you notice about these lipsticks is their scent. If you don’t like scented products… AVOID THESE, at all cost. When I took the lids off for this photo all I could smell was sweets.. it was literally attacking me from my marble paper. And when it’s on your lips, it’s all you can smell. Personally I love it, but it’s something to bear in mind.
These are a super matte formula, and when they apply to the lips they feel like a thick lip balm. They then dry down to be more drying (like a stereotypical matte liquid lipstick, so what do we expect), however they’re not painfully drying; they’re actually fairly comfortable. They apply with a standard dofer applicator, which is fairly standard and makes them easy to apply.
Cotton Candy is a beautiful pink toned nude, super pigmented and wearable. Caramel is … well a caramel colour. It’s a true nude, and to be honest, I’m obsessed with these two shades. Rosie is that sort of poppy toned red, super pretty, but this is where the shades begin to get a little patchy. Mango is an orange… a not subtle orange. One I don’t think I’ll probably ever wear, but good fun. Mulberry is a deep wine colour, such a pretty colour for fall. However, it’s a little patchy, which is a shame. Blackberry is a purple; so a little out there, but still somewhat wearable. It’s not as patchy as Mulberry, but still not as pigmented and as opaque as the first two.
At £2.99 a pop, these are super affordable. It’s a shame there’s a slight inconsistency with the formulas. However, there are some stunning shades in there, and I know I’ll get a lot of use of out them. Have you tried them? If so, what were your thoughts?
