I gained like 100 followers in under a week (and I think I fainted slightly…). But I thought I would share with you what I changed to grow my following!
Balance Good Quality with Quantity
There’s no surprise that Quality and Quantity are important. The more you post, the more likely you are to be found. However, if your photos are really naff, then people won’t follow you. So, you need to find a nice balance in the middle.
Stick To Some Sort Of Theme
I don’t mean every photo has to be a flat lay on a marble surface – not that there’s anything wrong with that. I mean sticking mainly to a top, or even a Filter (I use Clarendon) helps people to know what to expect from you. When people know what you stand for, they can decide whether they like it, and so whether they want to follow you.
Hashtags Are Your Bestfriend
Growing anything naturally is all about getting noticed. You could have the best content in the World, but if no one knows about it, then there’s no point to it. One of the easiest way to get noticed is to hashtag. I always make my comment in the caption section, and then write all my hashtags in the first comment.. I don’t know why…
Engage In Other Instagram Accounts
Find your most common hashtags (for me #bblogger and #photographer) and search those, and go find new accounts, new photos and new everything and like, comment, follow. When you engage with other people, they engage back. I’m sure you all spend hours looking at other people’s blogs, and leave comments… well this is the same.
Say Something In Your Caption
It doesn’t have to be an expert piece of literature, but say something. I feel like it’s a great way to start a conversation with people, it gives people something to write about in the comments – which is essentially what you want.
Use Your Other Platforms
Now, I suck at Twitter and Facebook.. like really bad. But I know a lot of you will have huge followings on other Social Media Platforms.. use them. Share your photos, keep sharing your like, link it at the bottom of each blog post, get the word out there.
The most important thing about gaining a following is about getting noticed. So, do whatever you can!
