Products I Regret Buying

While I don’t like being a negative person, I also don’t believe in wasting money, and so I love to read and watch these type of posts/videos. So, today I have 6 products for you which haven’t entirely worked for me. Now I don’t want to offend anyone who swears by these products, these were just my findings and I wanted to share them with you.

Makeup Products I Regret Buying

Lancome City Miracle CC Cream 01 £29

I bought this for my holiday in Turkey, and I was completely and utterly drawn in by the SPF 50. Let me tell you, this is the most I have ever spent on a face product in my life, and so I had very high hopes for this CC cream. However, while the formula is pleasant and I have no quarrels with the application process… this is the lightest shade they do, and even after a week in 40 degree heat and sun, it is still very dark for my skin, and it only gets darker as it dries. I will continue to use it – due to the price, and it’s SPF – but I will have to mix it with lightening drops. Considering premium makeup is meant to come in a more varied degree of shades (compared to drugstore) I was a little let down by this. However… I guess this is my fault.

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser £7.99

While this does in face erase pores (and so doing what it says on the tin), it also leaves my face feeling SUPER greasy. And as a result it actually makes applying makeup harder.. not easier.. which is what a primer is meant to do. For this reason, I really don’t use this primer, like ever.

YSL Shocking Eyeliner £25.50

Fine nib – check. Easy to create a flick with – check. And so I was all over this! However, it’s actually quite scratchy and it’s really not pigmented. I find you have to try really hard to make it as jet black as my Soap and Glory Supercat eyeliner. For that reason, I was really let down by this eyeliner. I don’t know if it’s because I received a faulty one or something. But I really don’t like this eyeliner!

Bourjois Blush in Rose Blossom £7.99

So the packaging of this blush is to die for! It’s so cute and adorable and travel friendly I just want to kiss whoever designed it. It’s also a beautiful pink in the pan and everything about it screams YES to me! However, to start with the brush is scratchy and less than nice, and so I almost instantly discarded that as useless. The blush is not pigmented but you can build it up. When you first apply it, it looks stunning. A lovely rosy pink, with glitter. Perfect for summer. However, after a short while, the glitter settles into pores, fine lines, and ends up all over your face.. and let me tell you, that is not a good look!

Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Moisturising Lipstick in Pretty Pink £21

I feel so bad for complaining about this lipstick, because of what I’ve tried of Elizabeth Arden, I love it! However, I don’t know if it’s because of the £21 price tag. But this lipstick wasn’t what I hoped it would be. When you apply this, it’s beautiful and balmy and pigmented and right up my street. However, it dries, and then it starts clinging to any dry patches on your lips and actually feels quire drying… weird. So, if you have moisturised, perfectly clean lips, then this looks amazing. However, if your lips are looking/feeling a little dry, this won’t look so good…

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer £5.99

This is just me being stroppy to be honest. So their shade numbers are 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 25. And so, like me you would assume that 10 is the lightest shade.. oh no… 15 is?! argh! So I picked up, what I thought was the lightest shade, and it’s too dark for me. I’ve been told 15 might be… but I’m not just confused… sorry Maybelline.

So, I hope this hasn’t been too negative for you, I just really wanted to share my opinions on a few products I really haven’t liked! What products do you regret buying?

  1. I love reading these types of posts because it’s interesting to see how products you love can be terrible for other people I haven’t really found a greasy problem using the baby skin primer but I guess that’s just down to different skin types! 🙂 Great post
