My 10 Questions to Answer
Why did you start blogging?
I started Blogging because, well, honestly, because I wanted to start a YouTube channel (which I now have!!!) and I didn’t have the confidence to. But I really wanted to share with people things I’d learnt, bought, and the opinions I’d gathered, and I started this; katieemmabeauty.com, and I haven’t looked back.
What is your favorite & least favorite part of blogging?
I love taking the photographs! Photography is one of my great hobbies, and this allowed me to develop and learn, and I feel I have come so far in this aspect. And my least favourite aspect; this is difficult, because this is my hobby, but the part I find most disheartening is how patient you have to be. I’ve been doing this for nearly a year (10 months now!) and I still don’t have many subscribers, my daily views are less that 50, and it’s slow.
Do you get writers block? How do you beat it?
I read, be it magazines, blogs, reference books, websites, anything. I find if you take a good chunk of time (30mins+) with a pen, paper and your collection of reading, and take note of articles you enjoyed, products you thought were awesome, and I find this helps me LOADS.
If in doubt, I always love to make wish lists or do a TAG (you don’t have to be tagged to do them, just go ahead)
Are you associated with any blogging groups, communities, or associations? How do you feel they have helped?
No, I didn’t know this was a thing? How exiting. But I’ll say the one that has helped a lot is bloglovin’, if you aren’t signed up and have your blog on there. Do it! Now!
If you could tell someone starting a blog today one tip what would it be?
Don’t worry too much in the first day about the layout and the colour scheme and the trivial things like that straight away. Get to writing, write beautiful content with complimentary photos, and that is how you will get readers.
Tell me something people would be shocked to know about you.
Geez, to the people I’m close with this is difficult because I am very open with my friends. And so I will say something that you (my readers) probably won’t know about me.
I started wearing makeup about a year ago! Yes, I never wore makeup before the age of 19. And I have learn a lot in the last year, and I now love it.
What or who inspires you most?
I’m going to do a who and a what (but the what is sort of cheating). For what; my family (don’t hate me…), my younger brother is my best friend, my older brother looks out for me through everything, my mother is beautiful and strong and my father – oh my father – he learnt how to cook, clean, shop, and all the other things mum used to do, after she left alongside keeping his business going to financially support us!
And who, another cheesy one, but my boyfriend. He’s the one who supported and pushed me into uploading that dreaded first YouTube video! (which I had been filming and deleting for over a year now). He’s also the one who gives me daily nudges; have you updated twitter? Katie you haven’t posted today? etc.
What is or do you want your career to be?
Arts Management or Arts Administration
Would you continue to blog if no one ever read it?
Yes, no one read my blog for the first month or so of having it. I just love the entire process and I love to write it
What is one thing blogging has taught you?
Alongside photography tips and editing and writing, I feel like the most important thing this blog has taught me is to be proud of what you do. When I first started this blog I never showed anyone, it was a very private place I wrote things I found and I could never imagine sharing with my friends or family. But since starting this blog I’ve realised there are always people who will appreciate what you do, and so go ahead and do it!
